Jiminy Cricket: Pinocchio’s conscience; profanity substitute- COOL WORDS

Crickets, as a general rule, are not cute the exception being Jiminy. His top hat, his cane, his waistcoat. I can’t imagine anyone scraping him off the bottom of their shoe. That being said, the reason this is a cool word is because it’s a wonderful alternative to cussing when profanity is not appropriate or when you are trying to clean up your vocabulary or in any situation where extreme verbal expulsions are frowned upon.  For example:  “Jiminy Crickets that report is due today!” Or “Jiminy Crickets you scared the crap out of me!”  (Although crap may be considered cussing in certain circles so you may need to use a substitute depending on your audience.)  Or just plain old “Jiminy Crickets!” Which I hollered one day when I opened the door to the garage and a bird flew at my head much to the horrified amusement of my kids.  Fudge Brownies is another excellent alternative to swearing with the added benefit of putting you in a good mood ‘cuz let’s face it, that’s the power of chocolate!
